Malik “Sol” Coburn

Malik “Sol” Coburn (he/they) is a crate digging, oracle card reading, eclectic earth servant and learning teacher hailing from Potawotami/Miami/Illinois territory – also known as inner city Chicago. Sol has dedicated their life to finding spaces where care for the earth, people, and sharing resources is embraced and illuminated.

He has a genuine non-stop curiosity for embodying processes that are taught by nature. This is channeled through cultivating fun and culturally sensitive curricula; co-curation of events; and consulting with those who seek to find the parallels to their daily lives in nature.

After studying Integrated Marketing & Sustainability at the University of Redlands – Johnston Center, Sol’s intentions and passion led to immerse himself in two Earth Activist Trainings. Having been privileged with these experiences brought him to want to share – from leading an Environmental Science Program in Gary, IN at Lighthouse College Prep; to leading captivating lecture series’ & curating public programs at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Sol’s current projects involve building the Environmental Team at SavemoneySavelife, community wellness advocate at Verde Holistic Wellness Studio, and member of Chicago Urban Permaculture Salon. Sol moves with a listen-first attitude, understanding that resilience is true security  – feeding what we want to grow.
